After getting his jaw broken by Edison Miranda in his last fight, IBF Middleweight Champion Arthur Abraham (23-0, 18 KOs) started slowly against challenger Sebastien Demers (20-1, 9 KOs). But by round two Abraham was back to his old self and began showing how much more powerful his punches were.
In the third Abraham landed a straight right that clipped Demers on the chin. The Canadian stumbled against the ropes and Abraham followed up with a barrage of punches. Another solid right sent Demers down to one knee. Demers beat the count but referee Ernie Sharif stopped the fight because he had such a look of resignation on his face. Official time was 2:57.
If Kelly Pavlik is unable to secure a title shot against Jermain Taylor, perhaps Arthur Abraham will oblige him.
