I missed the first hour of WEC 32 but I did catch Garcia’s awesome punch, McCullough brutal KO loss, and Condit’s payback of Prater. The show took place in Albuquerque, NM and aired live on the VS channel.
“Razor” Rob McCullough vs Jamie Varner (for McCullough’s WEC Lightweight Belt)
After dominating McCullough for two rounds, Varner got caught early in the third with a huge right hand that sent his mouthpiece flying. McCullough moved in to finish Varner but Varner called timeout and oddly, referee Steve Mazzagatti obliged him. Varner’s mouthpiece was replaced and the action resumed.
Later in the round Varner caught McCullough with a short right hand that sent him crashing to his back. Courageously, Rob climbed back to his feet while Jamie pounded away. Moments later, Varner landed a left to the jaw that collapsed Rob to his knees. Rob got up once more, and found himself being worked over in the plum. Varner broke the plum and landed a vicious left right that sent Rob down a third time. As Rob slumped to his right, Varner landed a final blow just as Mazzagatti stopped the carnage.
Winner: Jamie Varner by TKO at 2:54 of rd 3
Carlos Condit vs Carlo Prater (for Condit’s WEC Welterweight Belt)
Condit schooled Prater with some beautiful Jiu-Jitsu. The fight hit the ground quickly and Condit eventually pulled guard. From his back he began a submission assault on Prater that included Armbars, Triangles and Guillotines. Condit’s second Guillotine sub was too much for Prater and he tapped at the 3:48 mark.
Winner: Carlos Condit by tapout (Guillotine) at 3:48 of rd 1
Leonard Garcia vs Hiroyuki Takaya
Leonard Garcia scored a nice KO over Hiroyuki Takaya in the first round of their scheduled three rounder. He landed a straight right that floored Takaya and followed it with three more shots before the bout was stopped.
Official time was 1:31 of rd 1.
